Objective Chemical Experiments
Objective
Chemical Experiments is a workshop for scientists, chemists,
troubleshooters, and engineers in Design of Experiments (DOE)
and Response Surface Methodologies (RSM) with a focus on chemical
experimentation. The math is done by software. We can teach using
your favorite software, or we can assess your needs and recommend
a commercial software that is right for you.
Benefits
of the Workshop
- You will learn skills that can make you a top performer.
- You
will gain the knowledge you need to tackle and solve problems
too complicated for most people
- You
will learn techniques to help you produce optimal results within
your budget and on time.
- You
will learn to report your results in a professional manner that
will impress your management and customers.
- You
will develop greater pride and confidence in your work.
In
4 days you will learn
- How
to identify the problem to be solved
- How interactions
among factors affect your results
- How to
optimize your product or process
- How to
make contour plots to show to customers and your management
- How to
measure and report precision in your results
- How to
find the most important factors when experimenting on a tight
budget
- How and
when to use different types of designs for efficient, cost-effective,
yet sufficiently thorough experiments
- How to
perform experiments with chemical mixtures
This
is What Happens During the Training
- You
will work in teams of two, collecting realistic data from a
Windows "laboratory" in seven exercises. Each exercise
provides practice of the methods learned. The applications studied
are taken from R&D projects published by scientists and
engineers.
- You
will learn to use the software during the workshop. You use
the software to design experiments and analyze your data. This
practice on real problems provides the confidence necessary
to use the methods immediately upon returning to work.
- Everything
you learn is practiced during the workshop. Everything taught
is demonstrated by real examples. Questions are encouraged.
You won't have any homework.
Texts
You will receive a copy of the slides, and exercise manual. Prerequisites
You need to know how to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and take
a square root using a calculator or by hand. Basic algebra is
helpful, but not required.
