Setting
Objective Specifications
Setting Objective Specifications
is an advanced workshop for scientists, chemists, troubleshooters,
and engineers in setting manufacturing and product specifications.
The math is done by software. We can teach using your favorite
software, or we can assess your needs and recommend a commercial
software that is right for you.
Benefits of the Workshop
- You
will review your Design of Experiments skills.
- You
will learn to use models to set specifications objectively.
- You
will learn to use the Monte Carlo method to simulate factor
variations.
- You
will develop greater pride and confidence in your work.
In one day you will learn
- A
complete review of DOE techniques
- How
to use a mathematical model to make predictions
- How
to use Monte Carlo Analysis to study the consequences of manufacturing
specifications
- How
to determine if manufacturing and product specifications are
consistent
- How
to determine product specifications that balance product performance
with ease of manufacturing
This
is What Happens During the Training
- You
will work in teams of two, collecting realistic data from a
simulated lab in five exercises. Each exercise provides practice
of the methods learned.
- You
will learn to use the software during the workshop. You use
the software to analyze your data. This practice on real problems
provides the confidence necessary to use the methods immediately
upon returning to work.
- Everything
you learn is practiced during the workshop. Everything taught
is demonstrated by real examples. Questions are encouraged.
You won't have any homework.
Texts
You will receive a copy of the slides, and the exercise manual.
Prerequisites
You need to have completed Performing Objective
Experiments or its equivalent.
